Welcome to the NAPB Conference!

The North America Parts Benchmark (NAPB) Conference is an annual, three-day meeting among the leading manufacturers in the motor vehicle industry. It is packed with new research on emerging issues and robust discussions on the aftersales parts business. Over the course of the conference, participants share ideas, successes and failures across organizations in order to help strengthen the motor vehicle aftersales industry.

The upcoming 28th NAPB Conference will be held from April 28th to April 30th! The health and safety of our clients and staff comes first to us at Carlisle & Co. With that in mind, and the uncertainty caused by COVID-19, we have made the decision to move the 2020 Conference to a virtual event. This format will still provide participants access to all general sessions and breakouts. We are disappointed to not be able to see all of you in Cincinnati this year, but look forward to connecting and still conducting a meaningful and productive conference!

With feedback from participants and Steering Committee Members, we have made some exciting new changes to this year’s event:

Conference Tracks

These themed tracks will help participants navigate the best sessions to register for, based on discipline and areas of expertise. This year’s tracks include Warehouse Operations, Supply Chain Planning, Supply Chain Optimization and Selling to Dealers & Customers. Following the conference tracks will enable attendees to get the most out of their time at NAPB.

New Format, New Sessions

New this year is the Leveraging NAPB Information for Continuous Improvement. This discussion will help participants learn how to best use all the information they gatherer throughout the conference. And perhaps more importantly, participants will come away with ideas on how to effectively disseminate this information upon returning to the office. We will share a link to this pre-recorded session prior to the conference, so that all attendees can view at their convenience.

Even though we won’t be hosting the Awards Dinner this year, we don’t want award-winning OEMs to miss their time in the spotlight! Therefore, we will incorporate the Awards Presentation as part of the general session presentations each morning.

Adjusted Timeline

This year, the NAPB conference will take place from Tuesday-Thursday, rather than the previous Monday-Wednesday schedule. In addition, we will kick off the conference starting at 10 am eastern to accommodate participants across the country.

Strength in Numbers

We are delighted to announce that Honda has rejoined NAPB, and are excited to welcome Doosan Bobcat, Hyster-Yale and Toro as new members of the NAPB family!

In addition, Toyota Materials Handling and Spartan Motors will be attending as guests in 2020!

Agenda

Supply Chain Leaders have been meeting twice each year – at the conference, and then again about six months later at a Focus Day. When we started this process, we discussed a wide range of issues that keep executives up at night. As this meeting has evolved, we have begun narrowing the focus to a small number of issues that everyone struggles with, such as turning data into action and measuring and managing the full customer experience.

In light of the recent COVID-19 global health crisis, we will be shortening and pivoting this session to focus on success stories and lessons learned from companies’ responses to the various challenges posed by this crisis. We will focus structured discussion on the following topics:

1. Existing / pre-prepared disaster response plans – were they in place, how effective were they, and what have we learned for future efforts?
2. Response on the fly – how have we had to adapt, and what adaptations do you expect in the future?
3. Supply chain vulnerabilities – did COVID-19 expose any new vulnerabilities or push known ones to the limit?
4. Maintaining focus on the future – have you been able to continue any other strategic efforts? How successful have you been in maintaining other priorities (especially recruitment and retention) in light of these issues?
5. What do you think are your long term business impacts?

This session is limited to one senior executive per OEM and the participants must complete the requested pre-work to attend.

In 2019, Carlisle conducted the first “Women of NAPB” panel discussion, which was led by four female, industry veterans. In this session, the panelists shared their experiences and insights regarding the challenges of being a woman in what’s still a male-dominated industry. Due to extraordinarily high demand, we will continue this discussion at this year’s conference, inviting a new group of panelists to share their perspectives and lessons learned with the group. To build on last year’s session, we will solicit topics of interest from the audience participants ahead of time, ensuring focused, thoughtful discussions. Both men and women are welcome to participate in the discussion, with insights to be learned from both sides!
